The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
