The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
