The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
