The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
