Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food save filth 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
