The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
