Anyone whose heart God has opened up to Islam possesses a light from his Lord. But woe betide those whose hearts have been hardened against the rememberance of God! Such people are in obvious error. 22 God has sent down the best Message: a Scripture that is consimilar and oft-repeated: that causes the skins of those in awe of their Lord to creep. Then their skins and their hearts soften at the mention of God: such is God's guidance. He bestows it upon whoever He will; but no one can guide those whom God leaves to stray. 23 Is he, then, who will shield himself with his face from the evil of torment on the Day of Resurrection be as he who is secure therefrom? And it shall be said unto the wrong-doers: taste ye that which ye have been earning. 24 Those who lived before them did [too] give the lie to the truth - whereupon suffering befell them without their having perceived whence it came: 25 Then God made them taste of disgrace in this life; and the torment of the life to come is greater, if they understand. 26 And verily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes, that haply they may reflect; 27 An Arabic Quran, without any crookedness (therein) in order that they may avoid all evil which Allah has ordered them to avoid, fear Him and keep their duty to Him. 28 God sets forth a parable: there are two men -- one belonging to many masters, all disagreeing with one another, and the other belonging entirely to one master: are those two equal in comparison? Praise be to God! But most of them have no knowledge. 29 Verily thou art mortal, and verily they are mortals. 30 Then, on the Day of Judgment, all of you will present your disputes before your Lord. 31
