Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
