Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
