(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
