The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
