The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
