Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to humans, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 about the sinners. 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
