Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 in Gardens they will question 40 From the guilty. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They said, "We never used to offer the prayer." 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
