AND [remember, O Prophet, the day] when thou didst set out from thy home at early morn to place the believers in battle array. And God was all-hearing, all-knowing 121 When two parties of you almost fell away, and Allah was their Protecting Friend. In Allah let believers put their trust. 122 For God had helped you during the Battle of Badr at a time when you were helpless. So act in compliance with the laws of God; you may well be grateful. 123 And recall when you said to the believers: 'Will it not suffice you that your Lord will aid you by sending down three thousand angels? 124 If you are steadfast and mindful of God, even though the enemy should suddenly fall upon you, your Lord will help you even with five thousand marked angels. 125 And Allah did not make it but as good news for you, and that your hearts might be at ease thereby, and victory is only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. 126 That He might cut down a section of the disbelievers or suppress them so that they turn back disappointed. 127 You have no say in this affair to decide whether He will relent towards them or He will punish them: they are wrongdoers. 128 To God belongs all that is in the heavens and earth; He forgives whom He will, and chastises whom He will; God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. 129
