So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
