The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 then he mustered 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
