Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
