Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
