The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
