The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
