The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
