Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
