Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
