Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
