The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
