The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
