When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
