O believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him when you hear (him speak); 20 And do not be like those who said, “We have heard”, whereas they do not hear. 21 ۞ Verily! The worst of (moving) living creatures with Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who understand not (i.e. the disbelievers). 22 Had they possessed any virtue, God would certainly have made them hear. Even if God were to make them hear, they would still turn away from (the words of God). 23 O you who have attained to faith! Respond to the call of God and the Apostle whenever he calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God intervenes between man and [the desires of] his heart, and that unto Him you shall be gathered. 24 And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively, and know that Allah is severe in penalty. 25 And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful. 26 O ye that believe! betray not the trust of Allah and the Messenger, nor misappropriate knowingly things entrusted to you. 27 And know that your possessions and your children are a test, and that with Allah is immense reward. 28
