Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you are certain (of your faith). 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 Rather they are in doubt, playing. 9 So wait thou the day whereon the heaven will bring forth a manifest smoke: 10 enveloping all mankind, [and causing the sinners to exclaim:] "Grievous is this suffering! 11 (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). 15 The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them. 16 ۞ AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh's people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:] 17 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. 18 and, 'Rise not up against God; behold, I come to you with a clear authority, 19 I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me. 20 And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go. 21 And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people. 22 (Allah said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued. 23 And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 and sown fields, fine sitting places, 26 And pleasant things wherein they took delight! 27 Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
