Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This (Muhammad SAW) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
