The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On lined couches, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
