Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 and that “He exalted be His Majesty has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah: 4 and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. 10 For some of us are upright and some otherwise: Surely we follow different ways. 11 And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight. 12 and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 ‘And as for the unjust they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 And that if they should keep to the (right) way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water, 16 as a trial for them. God will make those who disregard the guidance from their Lord suffer increasing torment. 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation). 19
