۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
