Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor used to feed the needy." 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books like the prophets. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
