Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
