Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder, 1 And when the stars shall be scattered, 2 when the seas swarm over, 3 when the graves are overturned, 4 Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back. 5 O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer, 6 Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; 7 in whatever composition He wanted. 8 By no means! Aye, ye belie the Requital. 9 Yet over you there are watchers, 10 Kiraman (honourable) Katibin writing down (your deeds). 11 who know all that you do: 12 Verily the pious shall be in Delight. 13 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; 14 which they will enter on the Day of Judgment 15 And will not be absent thence. 16 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? 17 How then can you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 18 It is a Day whereon no soul shall own aught of power for any soul; and the command on that Day will be Allah's. 19
