Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a high garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 and no food except pus 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
