Al-Isra 9 of 12
Observe the service of prayer from the sun's declining from the meridian to the darkening of the night, and the recitation at dawn. Indeed the Recitation at dawn is palpably evident. 78 And of the night - keep the vigil therein, as an act of supererogation for thee; belike thy Lord will raise thee up in a station praised. 79 And say: My Lord! make me to enter a goodly entering, and cause me to go forth a goodly going forth, and grant me from near Thee power to assist (me). 80 And say: "Truth has come and falsehood nullified." Verily falsehood is perishable. 81 And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers, and it adds only to the perdition of the unjust. 82 And when We bestow favor upon the disbeliever, he turns away and distances himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing. 83 Say: 'Each human works in his own manner. But your Lord knows very well who is best guided on the way' 84

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
