The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
