Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he! 1 His wealth avails him not, neither what he has earned; 2 [In the life to come] he shall have to endure a fire fiercely glowing; 3 His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!- 4 upon her neck shall be a rope of palm-fibre. 5

God the Almighty always says the truth.
