The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
