Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
