He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
