He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
