۞ And when the example of the son of Maryam is given, your people laugh at it! 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He is naught but a bondman: him We favoured, and him We made an ensample unto the Children of Israil. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day. 65 What are they waiting for – except the Last Day, that it may suddenly come upon them while they are unaware? 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
