The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky with its constellations, 1 By the Promised Day! 2 by the Witness and the witnessed, 3 Accursed be the People of the Ditch! 4 with fire abounding in fuel, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 witnessing what they were doing. 7 And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, 8 Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious, 15 Effecter of what He intends. 16 Has the story reached you of the hosts, 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies, 19 God encompasses them from all sides. 20 Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, 21 that exists in a well-guarded tablet. 22
