And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright! 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them. 42 So hold thou fast unto that which has been revealed unto thee; surely thou art upon a straight path. 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 Ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We have ever made gods, other than the Merciful, to be worshipped. 45
