The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
