The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), 'My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". 4 Some say, "These are his confused dreams." Others say, "He has invented it himself," and yet others say, "He is a poet. Let him bring us a sign as previous messengers did." 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? 10
