The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why dost thou not bring before us angels, if thou art a man of truth? 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. 10 No Messenger went to them whom they did not mock. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 And if We open for them a gate in the heavens, to ascend it through the day 14 They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched. 15
